भरतम् च परिष्वज्य यौवराज्ये अभिषिच्य च ।
अस्मत् सम्तापजम् दुह्खम् न त्वाम् अभिभविष्यति ॥२-५२-३३॥
bharatam ca pariṣvajya yauvarājye abhiṣicya ca |
asmat samtāpajam duhkham na tvām abhibhaviṣyati ॥2-52-33॥
Translation
Having embraced Bharata and anointed him in the office of Crown Prince, the sorrow born of separation from us will not overpower you.
हिंदी अनुवाद
भरत को गले लगाकर और उनका युवराज पद पर अभिषेक करके, हमारे वियोग से उत्पन्न तुम्हारा दुःख तुम्हें (अधिक) पीड़ित नहीं करेगा।
English Commentary
Ram prescribes a psychological remedy for his father's grief. He understands that Dasharatha is consumed by the void left by his exiled son. Ram suggests that engaging with Bharata—physically embracing him ('pariṣvajya') and officially investing him with power—will divert the King's mind and mitigate the overpowering sorrow ('duhkham na tvām abhibhaviṣyati'). This is devoid of jealousy; instead of wanting his father to pine for him eternally, Ram genuinely hopes that Dasharatha finds solace in Bharata. It underscores Ram's lack of attachment to the throne and his sincere love for his brother.

राम अपने पिता के मनोवैज्ञानिक उपचार का दूसरा चरण बता रहे हैं। वे जानते हैं कि दशरथ का दुःख 'पुत्र-वियोग' का है। राम का मानना है कि जब दशरथ भरत को गले लगाएंगे ('परिष्वज्य') और उन्हें शासन करते देखेंगे, तो उनका ध्यान बंट जाएगा और राज्य की जिम्मेदारियाँ उन्हें व्यस्त रखेंगी। राम यहाँ ईर्ष्या से मुक्त हैं; वे यह नहीं सोचते कि "मेरे बिना पिता को दुखी रहना चाहिए," बल्कि वे चाहते हैं कि पिता को भरत में राम की छवि दिखे और उन्हें सांत्वना मिले। यह श्लोक राम के त्याग और अपने भाई भरत के प्रति उनके अगाध प्रेम का परिचायक है।
