Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तव शुश्रूषणम् मूर्ध्ना करिष्यामि वने वसन् ।
अयोध्याम् देव लोकम् वा सर्वथा प्रजहाम्य् अहम् ॥ ॥२-५२-५४॥
tava śuśrūṣaṇam mūrdhnā kariṣyāmi vane vasan । ayodhyām deva lokam vā sarvathā prajahāmy aham ॥ ॥2-52-54॥
Translation
Living in the forest, I will serve you with my head bowed low. For this, I completely abandon Ayodhya and even the world of Gods (Heaven).
हिंदी अनुवाद
वन में रहते हुए मैं सिर झुकाकर आपकी सेवा करूँगा। आपके लिए मैं अयोध्या और देवलोक (स्वर्ग) को भी सर्वथा त्यागता हूँ।
English Commentary
Sumantra makes a grand declaration of renunciation. He weighs the service of Rama against the comforts of Ayodhya and the pleasures of Devaloka (Heaven), and rejects the latter two entirely (sarvatha prajahamy). Serving with his head bowed (murdhna) indicates humility and total submission. This reflects the highest sentiment of Bhakti yoga, where the devotee desires nothing—not even heavenly pleasures—except the opportunity to serve the Lord. By equating Ayodhya with Heaven and then rejecting both, he underlines that a place without Rama is hell, and a forest with Rama is superior to Heaven.

यह श्लोक सुमंत्र के 'त्याग' (Renunciation) की घोषणा है। वे कहते हैं कि राम की सेवा (शुश्रूषणम्) के सामने अयोध्या का राजसुख तो क्या, 'देवलोक' (इंद्र का स्वर्ग) भी तुच्छ है। 'मूर्ध्ना' (सिर से/सिर झुकाकर) शब्द पूर्ण समर्पण और अहंकार के नाश का प्रतीक है। जब भक्त को भगवान का सान्निध्य मिल जाता है, तो उसे किसी अन्य लोक या सुख की कामना नहीं रहती। सुमंत्र यहाँ स्पष्ट कर रहे हैं कि उनकी प्राथमिकताएं बदल चुकी हैं—अब उन्हें न घर चाहिए, न स्वर्ग, केवल राम के चरण चाहिए।
