नगरिम् त्वाम् गतम् दृष्ट्वा जननी मे यवीयसी ।
कैकेयी प्रत्ययम् गच्चेद् इति रामः वनम् गतः ॥२-५२-६१॥
nagarīm tvām gatam dṛṣṭvā jananī me yavīyasī । kaikeyī pratyayam gacched iti rāmaḥ vanam gataḥ ॥ ॥2-52-61॥
Translation
Seeing you returned to the city, my younger mother Kaikeyi will be convinced that 'Rama has indeed gone to the forest.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
तुम्हें नगर में वापस गया हुआ देखकर मेरी छोटी माता कैकेयी को यह विश्वास हो जाएगा कि 'राम वन को चले गए हैं'।
English Commentary
This reveals Rama's foresight and political acumen. If Sumantra and the royal chariot did not return, Kaikeyi might suspect that Rama was hiding nearby or plotting a rebellion. By using the term 'yavīyasī' (younger mother), Rama maintains respectful decorum despite her actions against him. Rama's objective is to satisfy Kaikeyi so that the transfer of power in Ayodhya remains peaceful and Bharata can rule without suspicion. This ensures that the conditions of the boon are visibly fulfilled, showcasing the height of Rama's sacrifice.

यहाँ राम की दूरदर्शिता और राजनीतिक सूझबूझ प्रकट होती है। यदि सुमन्त्र और रथ वापस नहीं लौटते, तो कैकेयी को संदेह हो सकता था कि राम कहीं पास में ही छिपे हैं या विद्रोह की योजना बना रहे हैं। 'यवीयसी' (छोटी माता) शब्द का प्रयोग करके राम उनके प्रति सम्मान बनाए रखते हैं, भले ही उन्होंने उन्हें वनवास दिया हो। राम का उद्देश्य कैकेयी को संतुष्ट करना है ताकि अयोध्या में सत्ता का हस्तांतरण शांतिपूर्ण हो सके और भरत निष्कंटक राज्य कर सकें। यह राम के त्याग की पराकाष्ठा है।
