Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
मम प्रिय अर्थम् राज्ञः च सरथः त्वम् पुरीम् व्रज ।
सम्दिष्टः च असि या अनर्थाम्स् ताम्स् तान् ब्रूयाः तथा तथा ॥२-५२-६४॥
mama priya artham rājñaḥ ca sarathaḥ tvam purīm vraja । samdiṣṭaḥ ca asi yā anarthāms tāms tān brūyāḥ tathā tathā ॥ ॥2-52-64॥
Translation
For my sake and for the King's pleasure, go back to the city with the chariot. And deliver the messages exactly as I have instructed to those for whom they are intended.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मेरे और महाराज के प्रिय (हित) के लिए तुम रथ सहित पुरी को जाओ। और जिन-जिन के लिए जो संदेश मैंने दिए हैं, उन्हें तुम वैसे-वैसे कह देना।
English Commentary
Rama now delivers the final decision. By saying 'mama priya artham' (for my pleasure/sake), he emotionally binds Sumantra: if he loves Rama, he must leave. By adding 'rājñaḥ ca' (and for the King), he invokes Sumantra's official duty. The word 'sarathaḥ' (with the chariot) is crucial—the return of the empty chariot confirms the exile. Finally, the instruction to deliver messages 'tathā tathā' (exactly as stated) ensures that there is no miscommunication and that the dignity and restraint Rama showed in his messages remain intact during delivery.

राम अब निर्णय सुनाते हैं। 'मम प्रिय अर्थम्' (मेरे प्रिय के लिए) कहकर वे सुमन्त्र को भावनात्मक रूप से बाध्य करते हैं कि यदि वे राम से प्रेम करते हैं, तो उन्हें जाना ही होगा। साथ ही 'राज्ञः च' (और राजा के हित के लिए) जोड़कर वे सुमन्त्र के राजधर्म को भी जगाते हैं। 'सरथः' (रथ के साथ) शब्द महत्वपूर्ण है—रथ का लौटना वनवास की पुष्टि है। अंत में, वे संदेशों को 'तथा तथा' (वैसा का वैसा) कहने का निर्देश देते हैं, ताकि कोई भ्रम न रहे और राम का संयम और मर्यादा संदेशों में भी बनी रहे।
