ततः वैखानसम् मार्गम् आस्थितः सह लक्ष्मणः ।
व्रतम् आदिष्टवान् रामः सहायम् गुहम् अब्रवीत् ॥२-५२-७१॥
tataḥ vaikhānasam mārgam āsthitaḥ saha lakṣmaṇaḥ । vratam ādiṣṭavān rāmaḥ sahāyam guham abravīt ॥ ॥2-52-71॥
Translation
Thereafter, having adopted the 'Vaikhanasa' path (the way of forest hermits) along with Lakshmana and affirmed that vow, Rama spoke to his friend Guha.

तदनन्तर, लक्ष्मण सहित 'वैखानस मार्ग' (वानप्रस्थ/तपस्वी धर्म) का आश्रय लेकर और उस व्रत को धारण करके, राम ने अपने सखा गुह से कहा।
English Commentary
The 'Vaikhanasa marga' refers to the scriptural code of conduct for forest hermits. Rama does not live in the forest arbitrarily but adheres strictly to established spiritual disciplines. This evidences his deeply disciplined nature. As he prepares to part from Guha, Rama speaks not just as a friend, but with the authority of an ascetic established in his vow. Just before departure, he offers final, crucial counsel to his friend, signifying the depth of their bond.

'वैखानस मार्ग' वन में रहने वाले तपस्वियों की आचार-संहिता है। राम वन में मनमाने ढंग से नहीं, बल्कि शास्त्रों द्वारा निर्धारित नियमों के अनुसार रह रहे हैं। यह उनके अनुशासित जीवन का प्रमाण है। गुह से विदा लेते समय राम अब एक राजा के रूप में नहीं, बल्कि एक तपस्वी के अधिकार से बात कर रहे हैं। प्रस्थान से ठीक पहले, वे अपने मित्र को अंतिम और महत्वपूर्ण उपदेश देने के लिए तैयार होते हैं, जो उनकी मित्रता की गहराई को दर्शाता है।
