ततः तैः चोदिता सा नौः कर्ण धार समाहिता ।
शुभ स्फ्य वेग अभिहता शीघ्रम् सलिलम् अत्यगात् ॥२-५२-८१॥
tataḥ taiḥ coditā sā nauḥ karṇa dhāra samāhitā । śubha sphya vega abhihatā śīghram salilam atyagāt ॥ ॥2-52-81॥
Translation
Then, propelled by those (boatmen), controlled by the helmsman, and driven by the force of beautiful oars, that boat swiftly moved across the water.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब उन (नाविकों) द्वारा चलाई गयी, कर्णधार (पतवार पकड़ने वाले) द्वारा नियंत्रित और सुंदर डांडों (चप्पुओं) के वेग से धकेली गयी वह नाव शीघ्रता से जल को पार करने लगी।
English Commentary
This describes the motion of the boat. The mention of 'karṇadhāra' (helmsman) is symbolic; while the boatman steers the vessel, Rama steers his own destiny. The boat moving 'śīghram' (swiftly) underscores how quickly they are severing ties with the physical boundaries of Ayodhya. The river current amplifies the growing emotional and physical distance between Rama and his kingdom. This verse represents action and the inexorable forward momentum of their fate.

यहाँ नाव की गति का वर्णन है। 'कर्णधार' (हेलमैन/केवट) का उल्लेख जीवन रूपी नैया के संदर्भ में भी प्रतीकात्मक हो सकता है, जहाँ राम स्वयं अपनी नियति के कर्णधार हैं। नाव का 'शीघ्रम्' (तेज़ी से) चलना यह बताता है कि वे अयोध्या की सीमाओं से कितनी जल्दी दूर हो रहे हैं। नदी का प्रवाह उस भावनात्मक और भौतिक दूरी को बढ़ाता है जो अब राम और उनके राज्य के बीच आ रही है। यह श्लोक क्रियाशीलता और गति का प्रतीक है।
