पुत्रः दशरथस्य अयम् महा राजस्य धीमतः ।
निदेशम् पालयतु एनम् गन्गे त्वद् अभिरक्षितः ॥२-५२-८३॥
putraḥ daśarathasya ayam mahā rājasya dhīmataḥ । nideśam pālayatu enam gange tvad abhirakṣitaḥ ॥ ॥2-52-83॥
Translation
"O Ganga! May this son of the wise Great King Dasharatha, protected by you, fulfill this command (of exile)."

"हे गंगे! यह बुद्धिमान महाराज दशरथ के पुत्र (राम), आप द्वारा रक्षित होकर इस (वनवास के) आदेश (प्रतिज्ञा) का पालन करें।"
English Commentary
Sita prays for Rama's protection. She introduces him as the 'son of Dasharatha,' invoking the lineage's prestige. By saying 'tvad abhirakṣitaḥ' (protected by you), she assigns the role of guardian to the river goddess. Notably, Sita does not ask for the exile to be cancelled; she asks that Rama be able to fulfill the 'nideśam' (command/vow) successfully. This reflects the selfless love of a wife who wishes to aid her husband in his duty (dharma), rather than hinder him with concern for comfort.

सीता अपनी प्रार्थना में राम के लिए सुरक्षा मांगती हैं। वे राम का परिचय 'दशरथ के पुत्र' के रूप में देती हैं, जो रघुकुल की प्रतिष्ठा को दर्शाता है। 'त्वद् अभिरक्षितः' (तुम्हारे द्वारा रक्षित) कहकर वे गंगा को संरक्षक का दायित्व सौंप रही हैं। सीता यह नहीं मांग रहीं कि वनवास टल जाए, बल्कि यह मांग रही हैं कि राम अपनी प्रतिज्ञा ('निदेशम्') का पालन सफलतापूर्वक कर सकें। यह एक पत्नी का निस्वार्थ प्रेम है, जो पति के धर्म-पालन में सहायक बनना चाहती है, न कि बाधक।
