ततः त्वाम् देवि सुभगे क्षेमेण पुनर् आगता ।
यक्ष्ये प्रमुदिता गन्गे सर्व काम समृद्धये ॥२-५२-८५॥
tataḥ tvām devi subhage kṣemeṇa punar āgatā । yakṣye pramuditā gange sarva kāma samṛddhaye ॥ ॥2-52-85॥
Translation
"O auspicious Goddess Ganga! Then, having returned safely and joyfully, I shall worship you for the fulfillment of all desires."

"हे सौभाग्यशालिनी देवि गंगे! तब (लौटने पर) मैं कुशलपूर्वक वापस आकर, प्रमुदित (प्रसन्न) होकर, सभी कामनाओं की समृद्धि के लिए तुम्हारी पूजा करूँगी।"
English Commentary
This is a 'Manauti' or solemn vow. In times of distress, one makes a resolution to the divine. Sita conditions her worship on 'kṣemeṇa punar āgatā' (returning safely). The verb 'yakṣye' (I shall worship/sacrifice) points to Vedic and Puranic ritual practices. Addressing Ganga as 'subhage' (O fortunate/auspicious one) reflects a woman-to-woman intimacy. She is essentially asking the river goddess to share her auspiciousness with the exiled family.

यह एक 'मानता' या 'मनौती' (conditional vow) है। विपत्ति के समय देवताओं से सौदा नहीं, बल्कि संकल्प किया जाता है। सीता कहती हैं 'क्षेमेण पुनर् आगता' (कुशलता से लौटने पर)। 'यक्ष्ये' (मैं यजन/पूजा करूँगी) क्रिया वैदिक और पौराणिक पूजा विधियों का संकेत देती है। सीता गंगा को 'सुभगे' (सौभाग्यवती) कहती हैं, जो नारी-सुलभ आत्मीयता दर्शाता है। वे गंगा से अपना और अपने परिवार का सौभाग्य मांग रही हैं।
