गवाम् शत सहस्राणि वस्त्राणि अन्नम् च पेशलम् ।
ब्राह्मणेभ्यः प्रदास्यामि तव प्रिय चिकीर्षया ॥२-५२-८८॥
gavām śata sahasrāṇi vastrāṇi annam ca peśalam । brāhmaṇebhyaḥ pradāsyāmi tava priya cikīrṣayā ॥ ॥2-52-88॥
Translation
"Wishing to please you, I shall donate a hundred thousand cows, clothes, and excellent food to the Brahmanas (upon my return)."

"तुम्हारी प्रसन्नता (प्रिय) करने की इच्छा से, मैं (लौटने पर) ब्राह्मणों को एक लाख गायें, वस्त्र और उत्तम अन्न दान करूँगी।"
English Commentary
In Vedic culture, charity (Daana) is a primary means to please deities. Sita vows to give alms to Brahmanas in honor of Ganga. 'Gavām śata sahasrāṇi' (hundred thousand cows) indicates a royal scale of donation. It shows that Sita has not forgotten her identity as a queen; she knows that upon return, she will possess the resources to fulfill such a grand vow. This resolution blends gratitude toward the goddess with the duty of supporting the priestly class.
