Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तवामरसुतप्रख्य तर्तुम् सागरगाम् नदीम् ।
नौरियम् पुरुषव्याग्र! ताम् त्वमारोह सुव्रत! ॥ ॥२-५२-९॥
Tava amarasutaprakhya tartum sāgaragām nadīm |
Naur iyam puruṣavyāghra tām tvam āroha suvrata ॥2-52-9॥
Translation
O one who looks like a son of the gods! O tiger among men! O one of noble vows! Here is the boat to cross this river flowing to the ocean. Please board it.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे देवकुमार के समान तेजस्वी! हे पुरुषसिंह! हे उत्तम व्रत का पालन करने वाले! समुद्र की ओर जाने वाली इस नदी को पार करने के लिए यह नाव है। आप इस पर आरोहण करें।
English Commentary
Guha invites Rama to board the boat using three distinct epithets. Amarasutaprakhya (looking like a son of immortals) alludes to Rama's divine radiance. Puruṣavyāghra (tiger among men) acknowledges his martial prowess and courage. Suvrata (one of noble vows) honors his moral integrity in accepting exile to uphold truth. Guha indicates that the boat is the vehicle to cross the Sāgaragām (ocean-going) river. This moment is symbolic: the boat will ferry Rama from his past life as a prince to his new life as an ascetic, and Guha is the facilitator of this transition.
