अपि इदानीम् न कैकेयी सौभाग्य मद मोहिता ।
कौसल्याम् च सुमित्राम् च सम्प्रबाधेत मत् कृते ॥२-५३-१५॥
api idānīm na kaikeyī saubhāgya mada mohitā |
kausalyām ca sumitrām ca samprabādheta mat kṛte ॥2-53-15॥
Translation
"Blinded by the intoxication of good fortune, may Kaikeyi not torment Kausalya and Sumitra on my account now."

"सौभाग्य (सत्ता/पति का वरदान) के मद में मोहित कैकेयी, अब मेरे कारण (मुझसे द्वेष के कारण) कहीं कौसल्या और सुमित्रा को पीड़ित न करे।"
English Commentary
Rama's anxiety shifts from the political to the domestic. He characterizes Kaikeyi as 'saubhāgya-mada-mohitā'—deluded by the intoxication of her sudden success and power. He fears this hubris will manifest as tyranny against the vulnerable queens left behind. Specifically, he worries that Kausalya and Sumitra will become proxy targets for Kaikeyi's hatred towards him ('mat kṛte' - on my account). This verse highlights the psychological burden of the exile; the physical distance amplifies the fear of persecution of his loved ones.

राम को अपनी चिंता नहीं है, परन्तु वे पीछे छूट गई माताओं के लिए भयभीत हैं। 'सौभाग्य मद मोहिता' (सौभाग्य के नशे में चूर) वाक्यांश कैकेयी की मानसिक स्थिति का सटीक चित्रण है। सत्ता का नशा व्यक्ति को क्रूर बना देता है। राम को आशंका है कि उनके प्रति कैकेयी का द्वेष अब कौसल्या और सुमित्रा पर उतरेगा। 'सम्प्रबाधेत' (अच्छी तरह से पीड़ा देना) शब्द राम की गहन चिंता को दर्शाता है। यह एक पुत्र की असहायता है जो अपनी माँ की रक्षा के लिए शारीरिक रूप से उपस्थित नहीं हो सकता।
