Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अभिवाद्य तथेत्युक्त्वा रामेण विनिवर्तितः ।
उपावृत्ते मुनौ तस्मिन् रामो लक्ष्मणमब्रवीत् ॥ ॥२-५५-११॥
Abhivādyā tathetyuktvā Rāmeṇa vinivartitaḥ । Upāvṛtte munau tasmin Rāmo Lakṣmaṇam abravīt ॥ ॥2-55-11॥
Translation
Having bowed and said "So be it" (Tatha), Rama bade him farewell. When the sage had returned, Rama spoke to Lakshmana.

राम ने "तथा (वैसा ही होगा)" कहकर और प्रणाम करके उन्हें विदा किया। उस मुनि के लौट जाने पर राम ने लक्ष्मण से कहा।
English Commentary
Rama accepts the instructions with the affirmative Tatha and a respectful bow. The phrase Ramena vinivartitah suggests Rama actively persuaded the sage to turn back, likely out of concern for the elder's exertion. Once the sage is out of sight, the dynamic shifts back to the brotherly partnership. Rama immediately addresses Lakshmana, signaling the start of their operational phase where they must execute the sage's advice independently.

'तथा' (वैसा ही हो) कहकर श्रीराम ने ऋषि के निर्देशों को शिरोधार्य किया। 'विनिवर्तितः' का अर्थ है कि राम ने उन्हें सम्मानपूर्वक लौटने का आग्रह किया, क्योंकि ऋषि उनके प्रेम में बहुत दूर तक चले आए थे। जब ऋषि आँखों से ओझल हो गए ('उपावृत्ते मुनौ'), तब राम ने लक्ष्मण से बात की। यह दिखाता है कि जब तक गुरु सामने थे, पूरा ध्यान उन पर था। उनके जाने के बाद ही राम ने अपने भाई और सह-यात्री की ओर ध्यान केंद्रित किया।
