Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स्वस्ति प्रत्यागते रामे पुरीमिक्ष्वाकुपालिताम् ।
कालिन्दीमथ सीता तु याचमाना कृताञ्जलिः ॥ ॥२-५५-२१॥
Svasti pratyāgate rāme purīmikṣvākupālitām । Kālindīmatha sītā tu yācamānā kṛtāñjaliḥ ॥ ॥2-55-21॥
Translation
Thereafter, with folded hands, Sita prayed to Kalindi (Yamuna), saying, "May there be auspiciousness upon Rama's safe return to the city (Ayodhya) ruled by the Ikshvakus."

तदनन्तर, सीता ने हाथ जोड़कर कालिन्दी (यमुना) से प्रार्थना की कि "राम के सकुशल इक्ष्वाकुओं द्वारा पालित पुरी (अयोध्या) में वापस लौटने पर मेरा कल्याण हो।"
English Commentary
Here, the narrative emphasizes Sita's humility and her deep connection to the lineage of her husband. The gesture of Kritanjali (folded hands) signifies total submission to the divine will of the river goddess. By referring to Ayodhya as Ikshvakupalitam (protected by the Ikshvakus), Sita acknowledges the weight of the heritage Rama carries. Her prayer focuses specifically on the "return" (pratyagate), indicating that despite the immediate hardships of entering the forest, her mind is fixed on the ultimate restoration of order and their return to civilization. It portrays Sita’s unwavering optimism and her belief that the exile is a temporary phase in the grander scheme of the Ikshvaku legacy.
