Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
दानयज्ञविवाहेषु समाजेषु महत्सु च ।
न द्रक्ष्यामः पुनर्जातु धार्मिकम् राममन्तरा ॥ ॥२-५७-१३॥
Dānayajñavivāheṣu samājeṣu mahatsu ca । Na drakṣyāmaḥ punarjātu dhārmikam rāmamantarā ॥ ॥2-57-13॥
Translation
"Never again shall we see the righteous Rama in our midst during charities, sacrifices, weddings, and great assemblies."

(वे कह रहे थे) "अब हम दान, यज्ञ, विवाह और बड़े-बड़े उत्सवों (समाज) के बीच उस धार्मिक राम को फिर कभी नहीं देख पाएंगे।"
English Commentary
The citizens lament the loss of Rama from their civic and religious life. They list the occasions where his presence was most cherished: Dana (charity), Yajna (sacrifice), Vivaha (weddings), and Mahatsu samajeshu (great assemblies/festivals). Rama was not a distant royal figure but an integral participant (antara - in the midst) of their social fabric. The fear na drakshyamah punarjatu (we shall never see him again) reveals their pessimism about his return. This verse highlights Rama's role as the cultural and moral anchor of the society, whose absence leaves a void in all communal activities.

प्रजा उन विशिष्ट अवसरों को याद कर रही है जहाँ राम की उपस्थिति अनिवार्य और आनंददायी होती थी। 'दान', 'यज्ञ', 'विवाह' और 'महत्सु समाजेषु' (बड़े उत्सव/सभाएं)—ये सभी सामाजिक और धार्मिक जीवन के केंद्र थे। 'अन्तरा' का अर्थ है 'बीच में' या 'मध्य में'। लोग दुखी हैं कि इन सार्वजनिक समारोहों की शोभा अब राम के बिना फीकी पड़ जाएगी। 'पुनर्जातु' (फिर कभी) शब्द उनकी निराशा को दिखाता है; उन्हें भय है कि १४ वर्ष का वनवास एक जीवनकाल जैसा है। यह श्लोक राम की सामाजिक सक्रियता (social connectivity) और उनकी 'धार्मिक' छवि को रेखांकित करता है।
