प्रत्याश्वस्तः यदा राजा मोहात् प्रत्यागतः पुनः ।
तदा जुहाव तम् सूतम् राम वृत्त अन्त कारणात् ॥ ॥२-५८-१॥
Pratyāśvastaḥ yadā rājā mohāt pratyāgataḥ punaḥ । Tadā juhāva tam sūtam rāma vṛtta anta kāraṇāt ॥ ॥2-58-1॥
Translation
When the King recovered and returned to consciousness from his faint, he summoned the charioteer (Sumantra) for the purpose of knowing the details about Rama.

जब राजा को कुछ आश्वासन मिला (होश आया) और वे मूर्च्छा से पुनः जागे, तब उन्होंने राम का वृत्तांत जानने के लिए उस सारथी (सुमन्त्र) को बुलाया।
English Commentary
As Sarga 58 begins, the narrative focuses on Dasharatha regaining consciousness. The phrase mohāt pratyāgataḥ implies returning from a state of delusion or fainting caused by grief. Crucially, his immediate action upon waking is to summon Sumantra. This demonstrates his singleness of purpose; pain has not dulled his obsession with his son's fate. The term vṛttānta kāraṇāt (for the cause of news/details) shows that the King is desperate for closure—or perhaps a glimmer of hope—regarding the specific details of Rama’s entry into the forest.
