धर्मनित्या यथाकालमग्न्यगारपरा भव ।
देवि देवस्य पादौ च देववत् परिपालय ॥ ॥२-५८-१८॥
Dharmanityā yathākālamagnyagāraparā bhava । Devi devasya pādau ca devavat paripālaya ॥ ॥2-58-18॥
Translation
"(Tell her) Be constant in Dharma and attend to the fire sanctuary at the proper times. O Devi, serve the feet of the King (Deva) as if he were a god."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"(उनसे कहना) धर्म में नित्य स्थित रहकर समय अनुसार अग्निहोत्र (पूजा-गृह) की सेवा में तत्पर रहें। हे देवी! महाराज (दशरथ) के चरणों की देवता के समान सेवा करना।"
English Commentary
Rama prescribes a regimen of spiritual and marital duty to anchor his mother. By asking her to be agnyagāraparā (devoted to the fire sanctuary), he redirects her focus from loss to ritual, a common coping mechanism in Vedic culture. Furthermore, he explicitly instructs her to serve Dasharatha devavat (like a god). This is crucial strategy: Rama knows his father is vulnerable. By framing service to the husband as a divine duty, he ensures Kausalya does not blame Dasharatha for the exile, but rather nurtures him, thereby protecting the King's life in Rama's absence.

राम अपनी माँ को डिप्रेशन (अवसाद) से बचाने के लिए 'कर्मयोग' का मार्ग बता रहे हैं। 'अग्न्यगारपरा' (अग्निगृह/पूजाघर में व्यस्त रहना) का निर्देश इसलिए है ताकि उनका मन पूजा-पाठ में लगा रहे। सबसे महत्वपूर्ण निर्देश है—'देवस्य पादौ परिपालय' (महाराज की सेवा करना)। राम जानते हैं कि दशरथ आत्म-ग्लानि से भरे हैं, उन्हें कौसल्या के सहारे की आवश्यकता है। यदि कौसल्या ही टूट जाएंगी या दशरथ को दोषी मानेंगी, तो राजा जीवित नहीं रहेंगे। राम माँ को 'पतिव्रता धर्म' की याद दिलाकर पिता की रक्षा का भार सौंप रहे हैं।
