Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अतिक्रान्तवया राजा मास्मैनम् व्यवरोरुधः ।
कुमारराज्ये जीव त्वम् तस्यैवाज्ञ्प्रवर्तनाम् ॥२-५८-२३॥
Atikrāntavayā rājā māsmainam vyavarorudhaḥ । Kumārarājye jīva tvam tasyaivājñpravartanām ॥2-58-23॥
Translation
'The King is advanced in age; do not restrict his authority or depose him. You must live as the Prince Regent, implementing his commands.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
'राजा (दशरथ) अब वृद्ध हो चले हैं, अत: तुम उनके अधिकार को मत रोकना (उन्हें पदच्युत मत करना)। तुम कुमार-राज्य (युवराज पद) पर ही रहकर उनकी आज्ञाओं का प्रवर्तन (पालन) करते रहना।'
English Commentary
Rama anticipates a political crisis where the aging King Dasharatha might be sidelined or disrespected due to his controversial decision to exile the heir apparent. The phrase vyavarorudhaḥ implies constraining or stripping someone of power. Rama explicitly forbids Bharata from doing this. He instructs Bharata to operate within the Kumara-rajya (rule as a Prince/Regent), acting as the executive arm of the King rather than the King himself. This advice protects Dasharatha from a potential coup d'état born out of moral outrage, ensuring the transition of power respects the established order and the father's dignity.

राम को आशंका है कि दशरथ की वृद्धावस्था और उनके द्वारा लिए गए कठोर निर्णय (राम-वनवास) के कारण, भरत या प्रजा उनका तिरस्कार कर सकती है। 'मास्मैनम् व्यवरोरुधः' का अर्थ है कि राजा को अवरुद्ध या शक्तिहीन न किया जाए। राम यह सुनिश्चित करना चाहते हैं कि भरत व्यावहारिक सत्ता हाथ में लेते हुए भी दशरथ को केवल नाममात्र का राजा न बनाएं, बल्कि उन्हें पूर्ण सम्मान दें। यह राम की उदारता की पराकाष्ठा है कि जिसने उन्हें वन भेजा, उसी की सत्ता अक्षुण्ण रखने के लिए वे अपने उत्तराधिकारी (भरत) को निर्देश दे रहे हैं। यह भाई के प्रति प्रेम और पिता के प्रति कर्तव्य का संगम है।
