लोहित अक्षम् महा बाहुम् आमुक्त मणि कुण्डलम् ।
रामम् यदि न पश्यामि गमिष्यामि यम क्षयम् ॥२-५९-२५॥
lohitakṣam mahā bāhum āmukta maṇi kuṇḍalam |
rāmam yadi na paśyāmi gamiṣyāmi yama kṣayam ॥2-59-25॥
Translation
If I do not see Rama, who has reddish eyes, mighty arms, and wears bejeweled earrings, I shall proceed to the abode of Yama (Death).

लाल (कोरों वाले) नेत्रों वाले, विशाल भुजाओं वाले और मणियों के कुंडल धारण किए हुए राम को यदि मैंने नहीं देखा, तो मैं यमराज के घर (यमलोक) चला जाऊंगा।
English Commentary
Dasharatha clings to the image of the princely Rama—lohita akṣam (eyes with red corners, a sign of beauty and virility) and adorned with maṇi kuṇḍalam (gem-studded earrings). This imagery contrasts sharply with the reality of Rama's ascetic attire, showing that Dasharatha cannot emotionally accept the transformation of his son into a hermit. The conditional statement 'If I do not see... I will go to Yama's abode' serves as a final ultimatum to fate. It is the resignation of a broken heart asserting that vision of the beloved is the only tether to life.
