आनुद्धतमना विद्वान् धर्मात्मा भ्रातृवत्सलः ।
यधा च भ्रातृषु स्निग्धस्तथास्मास्वपि राघवः ॥२-६-२३॥
ānuddhatamanā vidvān dharmātmā bhrātṛvatsalaḥ |
yathā ca bhrātṛṣu snigdhas tathāsmāsvapi rāghavaḥ ॥2-6-23॥
Translation
Śrī Rāma is one whose mind is never arrogant, he is knowledgeable, righteous, and deeply affectionate towards his brothers. Just as that Rāghava (descendant of Raghu) is affectionate towards his brothers, so too will he be affectionate towards us (the citizens).

श्री रामचन्द्र जी का मन कभी अहंकार से रहित रहता है, वे विद्वान् हैं, धर्मात्मा हैं और भाइयों से अत्यन्त प्रेम करने वाले हैं। वे राघव (रघुवंशी श्री राम) जैसे अपने भाइयों से स्नेह रखते हैं, वैसे ही हम प्रजाजनों से भी स्नेह करेंगे।
English Commentary
This verse is also part of the conversation among the citizens of Ayodhya, who are overjoyed by the news of Śrī Rāma's impending coronation. It describes Śrī Rāma's excellent character traits. Firstly, 'ānuddhatamanā' describes him as free from arrogance and humble, an essential quality for a great king. He is affirmed as vidvān (knowledgeable) and dharmātmā (righteous), confirming his wisdom and moral integrity.
Most significantly, the citizens highlight his bhrātṛ-sneha (affection for his brothers). They believe that the deep affection and dedication Śrī Rāma shows towards his brothers will be extended to all his subjects. This comparison shows their unwavering trust in his impartiality and equal treatment of the populace, assuring the citizens that their king's heart is vast and equal for all.
