तत् गतम् हृदयम् हि अस्याः तत् अधीनम् च जीवितम् ।
अयोध्या अपि भवेत् तस्या राम हीना तथा वनम् ॥ ॥२-६०-११॥
Tat gatam hṛdayam hi asyāḥ tat adhīnam ca jīvitam । Ayodhyā api bhavet tasyā rāma hīnā tathā vanam ॥ ॥2-60-11॥
Translation
Her heart is wholly centered on him, and her very life depends on him. Indeed, without Rama, even Ayodhya would be like a forest to her.
हिंदी अनुवाद
सीता जी का हृदय पूर्ण रूप से श्री राम में ही बसा हुआ है और उनका जीवन भी उन्हीं के अधीन है। राम के बिना अयोध्या भी उनके लिए वन समान है (और राम के साथ वन भी अयोध्या है)।
English Commentary
Sumantra reassures Kausalya by defining the nature of Sita’s devotion. He explains that Sita’s perception of reality is entirely defined by Rama’s presence. This verse highlights that "home" is not a physical structure but a state of being with one's beloved. By stating that Ayodhya without Rama would be a wilderness to her, Sumantra implies that Kausalya should not worry about Sita's mental state in the forest; she is happier there with her husband than she would be in the palace without him.

सुमंत्र यहाँ माता कौशल्या को आश्वस्त कर रहे हैं कि सीता को वन के कष्टों से अधिक कष्ट राम के वियोग में होता। यह श्लोक 'पतिव्रता धर्म' और सीता के अटूट प्रेम का परिचायक है। सुमंत्र समझाते हैं कि स्थान का सुख-दुःख सीता के लिए मायने नहीं रखता, अपितु राम का सानिध्य ही उनके लिए सर्वोपरि है। यदि वे अयोध्या में महलों में रहतीं और राम वन में होते, तो वह महल उनके लिए भयानक वन जैसा होता। परन्तु, वन में राम के साथ होने के कारण, वह बीहड़ जंगल भी उनके लिए सुरक्षित अयोध्या जैसा है।
