अध्वना वात वेगेन सम्प्रमेण आतपेन च ।
न हि गच्चति वैदेह्याः चन्द्र अम्शु सदृशी प्रभा ॥ ॥२-६०-१६॥
Adhvanā vāta vegena sambhrameṇa ātapena ca । Na hi gaccati vaidehyāḥ candra amśu sadṛśī prabhā ॥ ॥2-60-16॥
Translation
Neither the fatigue of the journey, the force of the wind, the excitement, nor the heat of the sun has caused Vaidehi’s luster—resembling moonbeams—to fade.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मार्ग की थकान, वायु के वेग, घबराहट या धूप के कारण वैदेही की चंद्रमा की किरणों के समान (शीतल और उज्ज्वल) कांति तनिक भी फीकी नहीं पड़ी है।
English Commentary
Sumantra describes Sita’s resilience using the metaphor of moonlight. Despite the harsh elements—wind, sun, and the stress of travel—her glow remains undiminished. This serves a dual purpose: it extols Sita’s semi-divine nature and physical fortitude, and it directly addresses a mother’s worry about her daughter-in-law's health. He asserts that the forest environment has failed to tarnish her grace.

सामान्यतः वन की धूप और धूल से कोमल त्वचा मुरझा जाती है। परन्तु सुमंत्र बताते हैं कि सीता का तेज अलौकिक है। उनकी उपमा 'चंद्र अंशु' (चांदनी) से दी गई है। यह दर्शाता है कि सीता का सौंदर्य केवल शारीरिक नहीं है, बल्कि उनके तप और पातिव्रत्य का तेज है जो बाहरी वातावरण से प्रभावित नहीं होता। यह सुनकर माता कौशल्या को विश्वास होता है कि वन देवता सीता की रक्षा कर रहे हैं।
