Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
नूपुर उद्घुष्ट हेला इव खेलम् गच्चति भामिनी ।
इदानीम् अपि वैदेही तत् रागा न्यस्त भूषणा ॥ ॥२-६०-१९॥
Nūpura udghuṣṭa helā iva khelam gaccati bhāminī । Idānīm api vaidehī tat rāgā nyasta bhūṣaṇā ॥ ॥2-60-19॥
Translation
Even now, though she has laid aside her ornaments due to her love (for ascetic life/Rama), that noble lady walks playfully as if accompanying the tinkling sound of anklets.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यद्यपि अब उन्होंने अपने आभूषण उतार दिए हैं, फिर भी वह भामिनी (सीता) अपनी स्वभाविक गति से ऐसे खेल-खेल में चलती हैं मानो उनके पैरों में नूपुर (पायल) बज रहे हों।
English Commentary
Sita has discarded her jewelry to suit the forest life, yet her gait remains graceful. Sumantra observes that she walks with a rhythm ("Khelam") as if she were still wearing tinkling anklets. This metaphor indicates that her nobility is in her bearing, not her possessions. She carries herself with the same dignity and joy in the forest as she did in the palace.
हिंदी टीका
सीता जी ने वनगमन के समय अपने आभूषण त्याग दिए थे (अनुसूया से मिलने से पूर्व)। सुमंत्र कहते हैं कि आभूषण न होने पर भी उनकी चाल में वही राजसी गरिमा और 'खेल' (playfulness) है। उनकी चाल में संगीत है। 'तद रागा' का अर्थ है राम के प्रेम या वनवास के अनुराग के कारण उन्होंने आभूषण त्यागे, न कि मजबूरी में। उनकी मानसिक स्थिति उच्च है।
