सा मूद्र्ह्नि बद्ध्वा रुदती राज्ञः पद्मम् इव अन्जलिम् ।
सम्भ्रमात् अब्रवीत् त्रस्ता त्वरमाण अक्षरम् वचः ॥ ॥२-६२-११॥
Sā mūrdhni baddhvā rudatī rājñaḥ padmam iva añjalim । Sambhramāt abravīt trastā tvaramāṇa akṣaram vacaḥ ॥ ॥2-62-11॥
Translation
Weeping, she took the King's lotus-like folded hands and placed them on her head. Alarmed and agitated, she spoke words in a hurried manner.

रोती हुई कौशल्या ने राजा के कमल समान जुड़े हुए हाथों को पकड़कर अपने सिर पर रख लिया और भयभीत होकर हड़बड़ाहट में (जल्दी-जल्दी) वचन कहे।
English Commentary
This verse captures a moment of intense cultural panic. In the Vedic hierarchy, a husband begging his wife subverts the cosmic order, which terrifies Kausalya (trastā). She immediately corrects this inversion by placing his folded hands on her head—a gesture of accepting authority and blessing. She speaks hurriedly because she wants to stop him from degrading himself further. It shows that despite her grief, her respect for his status as her husband and King remains intact.

यह श्लोक भारतीय संस्कृति और 'पतिव्रता धर्म' की पराकाष्ठा है। जब पति पत्नी के पैर पड़ने लगे या हाथ जोड़े, तो यह पत्नी के लिए घोर पाप और अमंगल माना जाता है। कौशल्या 'त्रस्ता' (डरी हुई) हैं क्योंकि राजा का उनके सामने झुकना मर्यादा का उल्लंघन है। उन्होंने राजा के हाथ अपने सिर पर रख लिए, जिसका अर्थ है कि वह राजा का आशीर्वाद स्वीकार रही हैं, न कि उनकी क्षमा-याचना। उनकी हड़बड़ाहट ('त्वरमाण') उनके डर और सम्मान को दर्शाती है कि कहीं ईश्वर उन्हें इस अपराध का दंड न दें।
