प्रसीद शिरसा याचे भूमौ निततिता अस्मि ते ।
याचिता अस्मि हता देव हन्तव्या अहम् न हि त्वया ॥ ॥२-६२-१२॥
Prasīda śirasā yāce bhūmau nipatitā asmi te । Yācitā asmi hatā deva hantavyā aham na hi tvayā ॥ ॥2-62-12॥
Translation
"Be pleased, O Lord! I beg you with my head bowed on the ground. I am ruined if I am begged by you. Indeed, I ought not to be destroyed by you (in this manner)."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे देव! प्रसन्न होइए (क्षमा करें)। मैं आपके चरणों में गिरकर सिर झुकाकर याचना करती हूँ। यदि आप मुझसे याचना करेंगे तो मैं नष्ट हो जाऊंगी। मेरे द्वारा आपको क्षमा मांगना उचित नहीं है (अर्थात मुझे पाप का भागी न बनाएं)।"
English Commentary
Kausalya implores Dasharatha to stop his supplication, stating that his act of begging effectively "kills" her moral standing. By bowing to the ground herself, she physically lowers herself beneath him again to restore the equilibrium. Her plea, "I am not to be destroyed by you," means that his humility is a heavier burden on her soul than his previous mistakes. She cannot bear the weight of the King's guilt directed at her in such a submissive way.

कौशल्या यहाँ स्थिति को उलट देती हैं। राजा क्षमा मांग रहे थे, अब रानी क्षमा मांग रही हैं। 'हता' (मारी गई/नष्ट हो गई) शब्द का प्रयोग यहाँ आध्यात्मिक नाश के लिए है। वह कह रही हैं कि "यदि आप मुझसे हाथ जोड़ेंगे, तो मेरा धर्म नष्ट हो जाएगा।" वह राजा से विनती करती हैं कि वे अपनी गरिमा बनाए रखें। यह प्रेम और कर्तव्य का अद्भुत संतुलन है जहाँ दोनों एक-दूसरे के दुख और सम्मान को बचाने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं।
