स सम्ज्ञाअमुपलब्यैव दीर्घमुष्णम् च निःससन् ।
कौसल्याम् पार्श्वतो दृष्ट्वा ततश्चिन्तामुपागमत् ॥ ॥२-६२-३॥
Sa samjñāmupalabdhvaiva dīrghamuṣṇam ca niḥsasan । Kausalyām pārśvato dṛṣṭvā tataścintāmupāgamat ॥ ॥2-62-3॥
Translation
Upon regaining consciousness, he sighed long and hot breaths. Seeing Kausalya by his side, he again became lost in thought.
हिंदी अनुवाद
होश में आने पर वह लंबी और गर्म साँसें लेने लगे। अपने पास खड़ी कौशल्या को देखकर वह पुनः गहरी चिंता में डूब गए।
English Commentary
The description of 'long and hot breaths' vividly conveys the burning anguish inside Dasharatha. Seeing Kausalya beside him triggers a fresh wave of anxiety. She is the living embodiment of his failure. Her presence is a constant reminder of the injustice done to Rama. The King is not just grieving for his son, but is also tormented by the shame of facing his wife, making the atmosphere in the chamber heavy with unresolvable tension.

'दीर्घम् उष्णम् च निःससन्' (लंबी और गर्म साँसें) दशरथ की तीव्र आंतरिक जलन को दर्शाती हैं। जब उन्होंने आँखें खोलीं और कौशल्या को देखा, तो उन्हें भय और लज्जा दोनों का अनुभव हुआ। कौशल्या की उपस्थिति उन्हें उनके अपराध बोध (guilt) का स्मरण कराती है। वह उस पत्नी का सामना कैसे करें जिसका सर्वस्व उन्होंने छीन लिया है? यह दृश्य अत्यंत कारुणिक है, जहाँ एक महान राजा अपनी ही रानी के सामने अपराधी की तरह लाचार पड़ा है।
