अमनाः तेन शोकेन राम शोकेन च प्रभुः ।
द्वाभ्यामपि महाराजः शोकाब्यामभितप्यतो ॥ ॥२-६२-५॥
Amanāḥ tena śokena rāma śokena ca prabhuḥ । Dvābhyāmapi mahārājaḥ śokābhyāmabhitapyato ॥ ॥2-62-5॥
Translation
The Lord (Dasharatha), disturbed in mind, was tormented by both griefs—the grief of that (past deed) and the grief regarding Rama.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस (पुराने पाप के) शोक से और राम (के वियोग) के शोक से—इन दोनों शोकों से व्याकुल होकर महाराज दशरथ जलने लगे।
English Commentary
Dasharatha is now caught in a pincer movement of grief. The text describes him being burned (abhitapyato) by two distinct sorrows: the immediate trauma of losing Rama and the resurfacing guilt of his past sin. The convergence of these two griefs—one fresh, one ancient—creates an unbearable psychological load. It suggests that the curse he received is now manifesting through the event of Rama's exile, intensifying his suffering beyond ordinary limits.

दशरथ की पीड़ा अब दोगुनी हो गई है। एक तरफ वर्तमान में राम के वनवास का प्रत्यक्ष दुख है, और दूसरी तरफ अतीत के उस पाप (श्रवण कुमार वध) की ग्लानि है जो अब शाप बनकर फलित हो रही है। 'अभितप्यतो' का अर्थ है चारों तरफ से जलना। जैसे दो अग्नि के बीच में कोई फँस गया हो, वैसे ही दशरथ अतीत और वर्तमान दोनों की आग में जल रहे हैं। यह मानसिक संताप उनकी जीवन शक्ति को तेजी से नष्ट कर रहा है।
