Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्रसादये त्वाम् कौसल्ये रचितः अयम् मया अन्जलिः ।
वत्सला च आनृशम्सा च त्वम् हि नित्यम् परेष्व् अपि ॥ ॥२-६२-७॥
Prasādaye tvām kausalye racitaḥ ayam mayā añjaliḥ । Vatsalā ca ānṛśamsā ca tvam hi nityam pareṣv api ॥ ॥2-62-7॥
Translation
"I propitiate you, O Kausalya; here, I have folded my hands. For you are always affectionate and kind-hearted, even towards others (enemies)."

"हे कौशल्या! मैं तुम्हें मना रहा हूँ (क्षमा मांग रहा हूँ), मैंने यह हाथ जोड़े हैं। तुम तो दूसरों (शत्रुओं) पर भी सदा स्नेह रखने वाली और क्रूरता से रहित (दयालु) हो।"
English Commentary
Dasharatha appeals to Kausalya’s inherent nature. He uses the words Vatsalā (affectionate/motherly) and Ānṛśamsā (non-cruel/kind). He acknowledges he has no defense for his actions, so he relies entirely on her mercy. His argument is simple: if you are kind even to strangers or enemies, please extend that grace to your fallen husband. The folding of hands is a physical manifestation of his surrender, hoping to soften her anger by reminding her of her own virtue.

दशरथ कौशल्या के मूल स्वभाव की दुहाई देते हैं। वह जानते हैं कि तर्क से वह जीत नहीं सकते, इसलिए वह उनकी करुणा ('आनृशम्सा' - नृशंसता का अभाव) की शरण लेते हैं। वह कहते हैं कि तुम तो शत्रुओं पर भी दया करती हो, मैं तो फिर भी तुम्हारा पति हूँ। 'रचितः अयम् मया अन्जलिः' (मैंने यह अंजलि रची है) यह दर्शाता है कि वह औपचारिक रूप से एक भक्त की भांति याचक बने हैं। वह कौशल्या को याद दिला रहे हैं कि उनका हृदय वज्र का नहीं, बल्कि वात्सल्य का है।
