तत् इदम् मे अनुसम्प्राप्तम् देवि दुह्खम् स्वयम् कृतम् ।
सम्मोहात् इह बालेन यथा स्यात् भक्षितम् विषम् ॥ ॥२-६३-१२॥
Tat idam me anusamprāptam devi duḥkham svayam kṛtam |
Sammohāt iha bālena yathā syāt bhakṣitam viṣam ॥2-63-12॥
Translation
O Devi, this sorrow has been brought upon me by my own actions through ignorance, just as a child might unknowingly eat poison.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे देवी! जैसे कोई बालक अज्ञानता के कारण विष खा ले, वैसे ही अज्ञान (सम्मोह) के कारण मैंने यह स्वयं कृत (अपने ही हाथों किया हुआ) दुःख प्राप्त किया है।
English Commentary
Here, Dasharatha fully accepts responsibility for his fate. He uses the word Sammoha (delusion/ignorance) to describe his state of mind at the time of the incident. By comparing himself to a child eating poison, he illustrates that while the act was not malicious, it was born of foolishness and lack of foresight. However, just as poison kills regardless of the eater's intent, the laws of Karma deliver the consequence of the action. This verse highlights the king's deep remorse and his understanding that his current suffering is self-inflicted.

यहाँ दशरथ अपने कर्मों की जिम्मेदारी पूर्ण रूप से स्वीकार कर रहे हैं। वे 'सम्मोह' शब्द का प्रयोग करते हैं, जो विवेक के अभाव को दर्शाता है। अपनी तुलना एक 'बालक' से करके वे यह स्पष्ट करते हैं कि उस समय उनमें परिणाम को समझने की परिपक्वता नहीं थी। जैसे विष का प्रभाव निश्चित है, चाहे वह अनजाने में ही क्यों न खाया गया हो, वैसे ही कर्म का फल भी अटल है। यह श्लोक कर्म-सिद्धांत की कठोरता और दशरथ के गहरे पश्चाताप को रेखांकित करता है।
