Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
क्लिन्नपक्षोत्तराः स्नाताः कृच्च्रादिव वतत्रिणः ।
वृष्टिवातावधूताग्रान् पादपानभिपेदिरे ॥ ॥२-६३-१७॥
Klinnapakṣottarāḥ snātāḥ kṛccrādiva vatan triṇaḥ |
Vṛṣṭivātāvadhūtāgrān pādapānabhipedire ॥2-63-17॥
Translation
The birds, bathed [in rain] with their upper wings soaked and appearing to be in distress, sought refuge in trees whose tops were being shaken by the rain and wind.

वर्षा में नहाए हुए और गीले पंखों वाले पक्षी, मानो किसी कष्ट से घबराए हुए, उन वृक्षों का आश्रय लेने लगे जिनके शिखर वर्षा और हवा के झोंको से हिल रहे थे।
English Commentary
The imagery shifts from joy to vulnerability. The birds, usually masters of the sky, are now soaked, heavy, and struggling (kṛcchrād). They seek shelter in trees that are themselves unstable, battered by wind and rain. This evokes a sense of chaos and lack of safety. It subtly mirrors the upcoming scene where a vulnerable ascetic boy is exposed to danger in the forest, with no protection against the 'storm' of the King's arrow.

यह श्लोक वातावरण में एक प्रकार की 'हलचल' और 'असुरक्षा' का भाव लाता है। पक्षी, जो आकाश में स्वतंत्र उड़ते हैं, अब भीगकर भारी हो गए हैं और 'कृच्छ्रात' (कठिनाई से) आश्रय ढूंढ रहे हैं। जिस पेड़ का वे सहारा ले रहे हैं, वह स्वयं हवा से हिल रहा है। यह दृश्य श्रवण कुमार (जो निस्सहाय है) और दशरथ (जो नियति की हवा से हिलने वाले हैं) की स्थिति का प्रतीक हो सकता है।
