अवकीर्णजटाभारम् प्रविद्धकलशोदकम् ।
पासुशोणितदिग्धाङ्गम् शयानम् शल्यपीडितम् ॥ ॥२-६३-३९॥
Avakīrṇajaṭābhāram praviddhakalaśodakam |
Pāṃśuśoṇitadigdhāṅgam śayānam śalyapīḍitam ॥2-63-39॥
Translation
His matted hair was scattered, the water pitcher was overturned, his body was smeared with dust and blood, and he was lying there, tormented by the arrow.

उसकी जटाएँ बिखरी हुई थीं, पानी का कलश गिरकर (टूटकर) बह गया था, उसका शरीर धूल और खून से सना हुआ था, और वह बाण की पीड़ा से तड़प रहा था।
English Commentary
The imagery is graphic and symbolic. The scattered hair (Jata) signifies the disruption of his disciplined order. The overturned pitcher represents the failed mission—the water intended for the parents is lost, just as their support system is now lost. The mixture of dust and blood (Pamsu-shonita) on his limbs highlights the violent degradation of a sacred being. Shalya-piditam refers to the physical agony caused by the foreign object (arrow) in his body.

यह श्लोक उस वीभत्स दृश्य का विस्तृत वर्णन है। 'प्रविद्धकलशोदकम्' (बिखरा हुआ कलश और पानी) एक गहरा प्रतीक है—जैसे घड़े का पानी बह गया, वैसे ही उस बालक का जीवन बह रहा है। 'पांसुशोणित' (धूल और रक्त) का मिश्रण उस पवित्रता के हनन को दर्शाता है। ऋषि कुमार, जो सदैव स्वच्छ और संयमित रहता था, अब धूल में लोट रहा है। यह चित्र दशरथ के मन में ग्लानि की आग को और भड़काने वाला था।
