एकेन खलु बाणेन मर्मणि अभिहते मयि ।
द्वाव् अन्धौ निहतौ वृद्धौ माता जनयिता च मे ॥ ॥२-६३-४२॥
Ekena khalu bāṇena marmaṇi abhihate mayi |
Dvāv andhau nihatau vṛddhau mātā janayitā ca me ॥2-63-42॥
Translation
"Indeed, by striking me in a vital spot with this single arrow, you have simultaneously killed two blind, elderly people—my mother and my father."

"निश्चय ही मेरे मर्म स्थान पर एक बाण मारने से तुमने मेरे दो अंधे और बूढ़े माता-पिता की भी हत्या कर दी है।"
English Commentary
This verse reiterates the tragedy of the "triple death." The arrow struck the boy's Marma (vital physical organ), but metaphorically, it struck the lifeline of his parents. By saying "You have killed (Nihatau) two blind elders," he holds Dasharatha directly responsible for their inevitable deaths as well. It removes any illusion that the damage is limited to just the person lying on the ground.

श्रवण कुमार यहाँ घटना की वास्तविक क्षति का आकलन करते हैं। बाण एक था, पर मृत्यु तीन की हुई। 'मर्मणि' (हृदय/नाभि आदि कोमल अंग) पर चोट केवल श्रवण कुमार को नहीं लगी, बल्कि उनके माता-पिता के अस्तित्व पर भी लगी है। यह श्लोक 'कर्म के विस्तार' (ripple effect of karma) को दर्शाता है। हमारी एक भूल कैसे कई निर्दोष जीवनों को नष्ट कर सकती है, यह इसका प्रत्यक्ष उदाहरण है।
