गत्वा नद्याः ततः तीरम् अपश्यम् इषुणा हृदि ।
विनिर्भिन्नम् गत प्राणम् शयानम् भुवि तापसम् ॥ ॥२-६४-१६॥
gatvā nadyāḥ tataḥ tīram apaśyam iṣuṇā hṛdi । vinirbhinnam gata prāṇam śayānam bhuvi tāpasam ॥ ॥2-64-16॥
Translation
"Going to the bank of the river, I saw that ascetic lying on the ground, lifeless, with his heart pierced by the arrow."
हिंदी अनुवाद
(मैंने कहा) फिर नदी के तट पर जाकर मैंने उस तपस्वी बालक को देखा, जिसका हृदय बाण से विदीर्ण हो चुका था और जो प्राणहीन होकर पृथ्वी पर पड़ा था।
English Commentary
Dasharatha narrates the grim reality of the scene to the parents. He describes finding the boy "lifeless" (gata prāṇam) with his heart pierced (vinirbhinnam). By using such graphic terms, Dasharatha is not sparing himself the horror of his actions. He confirms that the boy is not just wounded, but gone, lying on the bare earth, emphasizing the irreversibility of the tragedy.

दशरथ माता-पिता को घटना का आँखों देखा हाल सुना रहे हैं। 'विनिर्भिन्नम्' शब्द हृदय के पूरी तरह फटने या भेदने को दर्शाता है, जो मृत्यु की निश्चितता का सूचक है। 'भुवि शयानम्' (पृथ्वी पर लेटा हुआ) - यह शब्द उस बालक की निस्सहाय अवस्था को दिखाता है जो कुछ क्षण पहले जीवित और चेतनायुक्त था। दशरथ कोई भी विवरण छिपा नहीं रहे हैं, वे कठोर सत्य को स्वीकार कर रहे हैं।
