स च उद्धृतेन बाणेन तत्र एव स्वर्गम् आस्थितः ।
भगवन्ताव् उभौ शोचन्न् अन्धाव् इति विलप्य च ॥ ॥२-६४-१९॥
sa ca uddhṛtena bāṇena tatra eva svargam āsthitaḥ । bhagavantāv ubhau śocann andhāv iti vilapya ch ॥ ॥2-64-19॥
Translation
"And with the arrow extracted, grieving for both of you blind parents and lamenting thus, he ascended to heaven right there."

बाण निकालते ही, आप दोनों अंधे माता-पिता के लिए शोक करते हुए और विलाप करते हुए, वह वहीं (तट पर ही) स्वर्ग सिधार गया।
English Commentary
Dasharatha delivers two pieces of information: the boy is dead, but he died a noble death ensuring his place in heaven (Swargam). He emphasizes that the boy's last thoughts were selfless—he was "lamenting" not for his own life, but for his blind parents (andhāv). This detail serves to honor the son's character while simultaneously breaking the parents' hearts with the depth of their loss.

दशरथ बताते हैं कि बालक की अंतिम चेतना अपने लिए नहीं, अपितु अपने माता-पिता के लिए थी। 'स्वर्गम् आस्थितः' (स्वर्ग में स्थित हो गया) कहकर दशरथ माता-पिता को यह सांत्वना भी दे रहे हैं कि उनका पुत्र सद्गति को प्राप्त हुआ है। एक पुण्यात्मा की तरह, उसने मरते समय भी केवल अपने माता-पिता के अनाथ हो जाने का शोक किया।
