सप्तधा तु फलेन्मूर्धा मुनौ तपसि तिष्ठति ।
ज्ञानाद्विसृजतः शस्त्रम् तादृशे ब्रह्मचारिणि ॥ ॥२-६४-२५॥
saptadhā tu phalenmūrdhā munau tapasi tiṣṭhati । jñānādvisṛjataḥ śastram tādṛśe brahmacāriṇi ॥ ॥2-64-25॥
Translation
"If a weapon were knowingly released at such a Brahmachari sage engaged in penance, the head (of the thrower) would indeed split into seven pieces."
हिंदी अनुवाद
तपस्या में लगे हुए ऐसे ब्रह्मचारी मुनि पर यदि जानबूझकर शस्त्र चलाया जाता, तो शस्त्र चलाने वाले का मस्तक सात टुकड़ों में फट जाता।
English Commentary
The sage continues to delineate the consequences of intentional murder of a holy man. The "head splitting into seven pieces" is a classic Vedic curse formula indicating total destruction of the intellect and life force. By detailing what didn't happen, the sage acknowledges Dasharatha's lack of malice, thereby subtly preparing the ground for a punishment that is severe but not immediately fatal.

पिछला श्लोक पद-भ्रष्ट होने (losing position) के बारे में था, यह श्लोक शारीरिक विनाश (physical destruction) के बारे में है। 'सप्तधा' (सात प्रकार से/टुकड़ों में) सिर का फटना एक प्राचीन शाप या दंड का स्वरूप है जो वेदों और उपनिषदों में भी मिलता है। ऋषि दशरथ को बता रहे हैं कि वे कितने बड़े संकट के किनारे से लौट आए हैं केवल अपनी सत्यवादिता के कारण।
