Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ततः तम् घटम् आदय पूर्णम् परम वारिणा ।
आश्रमम् तम् अहम् प्राप्य यथा आख्यात पथम् गतः ॥ ॥२-६४-३॥
tataḥ tam ghaṭam ādaya pūrṇam parama vāriṇā । āśramam tam aham prāpya yathā ākhyāta patham gataḥ ॥ ॥2-64-3॥
Translation
Then, taking that pitcher filled with excellent water, I reached the ashram, following the path as described (by the boy).
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनन्तर, उत्तम जल से भरे हुए उस घड़े को लेकर, मैं उस मार्ग से आश्रम पहुँचा जो उस (बालक) ने बताया था।
English Commentary
This verse marks the beginning of the confrontation. Dasharatha picks up the water pitcher—the very object that caused the confusing sound leading to the tragedy. He walks the path described by the dying boy to face the blind parents. This walk represents the height of moral courage; carrying the water meant carrying the news of their son's death, knowing he would face their wrath and grief.

दशरथ ने अपनी जिम्मेदारी स्वीकार की। वे वहां से भागे नहीं। उन्होंने वह कार्य पूरा करने का निर्णय लिया जिसके लिए बालक आया था—माता-पिता के लिए जल ले जाना। यह एक अत्यंत कठिन यात्रा थी। उस घड़े को उठाना, जो उस बालक का था जिसे उन्होंने अभी मारा था, और उस जल को उन माता-पिता के पास ले जाना जो उसकी प्रतीक्षा कर रहे थे—यह दशरथ के चरित्र की दृढ़ता को दिखाता है।
