Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
या गतिः सर्व साधूनाम् स्वाध्यायात् पतसः च या ।
भूमिदस्य आहित अग्नेः चएक पत्नी व्रतस्य च ॥ ॥२-६४-४४॥
Yā gatiḥ sarva sādhūnām svādhyāyāt tapasaḥ ca yā । Bhūmidasya āhita agneḥ ca eka patnī vratasya ca ॥ ॥2-64-44॥
Translation
"May you attain the state reached by all sages, by those devoted to scripture study and penance, by donors of land, by those who maintain sacred fires, and by those devoted to the vow of having only one wife."

"सभी साधुओं को, वेद-शास्त्रों का स्वाध्याय करने वालों को, तपस्वियों को, भूमि का दान करने वालों को, अग्निहोत्र करने वालों को और एक पत्नी व्रत का पालन करने वालों को जो गति मिलती है (वही तुम्हें मिले)।"
English Commentary
The father catalogs the highest virtues of Vedic life: svādhyāya (self-study/scripture), tapas (austerity), bhūmidāna (charity), āhitāgni (ritual maintenance of fire), and eka-patnī-vrata (monogamy). By invoking these, the sage asserts that caring for parents encompasses all these specific religious acts. It is a holistic benediction. The mention of the "vow of one wife" implies the boy’s purity and control over his senses (Brahmacharya until marriage, or faithfulness). The father is effectively transferring the merit of the entire Vedic ecosystem to his son’s departing soul.
