Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
आबभाषे च वृद्धौ तौ सह शक्रेण तापसः ।
आश्वास्य च मुहूर्तम् तु पितरौ वाक्यम् अब्रवीत् ॥ ॥२-६४-४९॥
Ābabhāṣe ca vṛddhau tau saha śakreṇa tāpasaḥ । Āśvāsya ca muhūrtam tu pitarau vākyam abravīt ॥ ॥2-64-49॥
Translation
While being with Indra, the ascetic son addressed his two aged parents. Comforting them for a moment, he spoke these words.

इंद्र के साथ जाते हुए उस तपस्वी (पुत्र) ने अपने उन दोनों बूढ़े माता-पिता को संबोधित किया और एक मुहूर्त (क्षण भर) के लिए उन्हें सांत्वना देते हुए यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
Even in his celestial ascent, the son’s primary concern remains his parents. He pauses the journey with the King of Gods to address them. This act of āśvāsya (comforting/consoling) reverses the roles; the child becomes the wise counselor to the grieving parents. It creates a moment of suspension between the mortal and divine worlds, allowing for a final goodbye. This supernatural intervention is crucial for the parents' closure, letting them know their son is safe, exalted, and still watching over them.

स्वर्ग जाते समय भी पुत्र का मोह अपने माता-पिता से नहीं छूटता। वह देवताओं के साथ होकर भी रुकता है और अपने 'वृद्धौ पितरौ' (बूढ़े माता-पिता) से बात करता है। यह संवाद बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि यह माता-पिता को यह विश्वास दिलाता है कि उनका पुत्र नष्ट नहीं हुआ है, बल्कि मुक्त हो गया है। 'आश्वास्य' (सांत्वना देकर) शब्द बताता है कि पुत्र अब पिता की भूमिका में है, जो अपने रोते हुए माता-पिता को चुप करा रहा है। यह आध्यात्मिक संबंध की गहराई को दिखाता है जो मृत्यु के पार भी संचार कर सकती है।
