पद्म पत्र ईक्षणम् सुभ्रु सुदम्ष्ट्रम् चारु नासिकम् ।
धन्या द्रक्ष्यन्ति रामस्य तारा अधिप निभम् मुखम् ॥ ॥२-६४-७०॥
Padma patra īkṣaṇam subhru sudamṣṭram cāru nāsikam । Dhanyā drakṣyanti rāmasya tārā adhipa nibham mukham ॥ ॥2-64-70॥
Translation
Blessed are those who will see the face of Rama, which resembles the Lord of the Stars (the Moon), with eyes like lotus petals, beautiful eyebrows, lovely teeth, and a shapely nose.
हिंदी अनुवाद
कमल की पंखुड़ी जैसे नेत्रों वाले, सुंदर भौंहों, सुंदर दाँतों और सुंदर नासिका वाले, नक्षत्रों के स्वामी (चन्द्रमा) के समान राम के मुख को देखने वाले लोग धन्य होंगे।
English Commentary
As life fades, Dasharatha visualizes the specific features of his son. He recalls the classical marks of beauty: lotus eyes, well-formed brows, fine teeth, and a noble nose. Comparing Rama's face to the 'Lord of Stars' (the Moon) suggests that Rama brings light and coolness to the darkness of the world. This detailed remembrance serves two purposes: it comforts the dying King to think of his son's beauty, but it also sharpens the pain of loss. He declares those who will witness this beauty in the future as truly 'blessed' (dhanya), emphasizing his own deprivation.

मृत्यु के निकट पहुँचकर दशरथ राम के शारीरिक सौंदर्य का ध्यान (Visualization) कर रहे हैं। यह 'विरह' श्रृंगार का एक रूप है जहाँ प्रिय का नख-शिख वर्णन किया जाता है। वे राम की आँखों (कमलवत), भौंहों, दाँतों और नाक की सुंदरता को याद करते हैं। राम के मुख की तुलना 'तारा-अधिप' (चन्द्रमा) से की गई है, जो शीतलता और आनंद का प्रतीक है। दशरथ का मन राम के इसी सौम्य रूप में अटक गया है। वे बार-बार कहते हैं कि 'धन्य' हैं वे लोग जो इस रूप को देख पाएंगे, जिससे उनका स्वयं का दुर्भाग्य और गहरा प्रतीत होता है।
