ततः सूर्योदयम् यावत्सर्वम् परिसमुत्सुकम् ।
तस्थावनुपसम्प्राप्तम् किम् स्विदित्युपशङ्कितम् ॥ ॥२-६५-११॥
tataḥ sūryodayam yāvatsarvam parisamutsukam |
tasthāvanupasamprāptam kim svidityupaśaṅkitam ॥2-65-11॥
Translation
Thereafter, as the sun rose and the King still had not appeared, everyone became extremely anxious. Suspecting something was amiss, wondering 'What could be the matter?', they stood waiting.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनन्तर सूर्योदय होने तक जब महाराज बाहर नहीं आए, तो सब लोग बहुत उत्सुक हो गए। 'क्या बात है'—ऐसा संदेह करते हुए सब वहीं खड़े रह गए।
English Commentary
This verse marks the transition from routine service to alarm. The rising sun, usually a symbol of hope and new beginnings, here acts as a timer indicating a deviation from the norm. King Dasharatha was known for his adherence to Dharma and discipline; his failure to appear at sunrise was immediately concerning. The phrase 'Kim svid' (What could it be?) reflects the collective anxiety of the household. The tension builds as the attendants stand frozen between duty (waiting for the King) and fear (suspecting the tragedy), creating a suspenseful atmosphere just before the discovery of the death.

यहाँ समय के प्रवाह और सेवकों की बढ़ती बेचैनी का वर्णन है। सूर्योदय राजा के जागने का नियत समय है। जब वह समय बीत गया और दशरथ नहीं जागे, तो सेवकों के मन में 'उपशङ्कितम्' (शंका) उत्पन्न हुई। यह शंका अकारण नहीं थी, क्योंकि पिछली रात राजा पुत्र-शोक में अत्यंत व्याकुल थे। 'परिसमुत्सुकम्' शब्द यहाँ केवल जिज्ञासा नहीं, बल्कि भय मिश्रित उत्सुकता को दर्शाता है। राजभवन का अनुशासन ऐसा था कि बिना बुलाए कोई भीतर नहीं जा सकता था, इसलिए वे बाहर ही प्रतीक्षा करते हुए अनिष्ट की आशंका से घिर गए।
