सूताः परमसम्स्काराः मङ्गलाश्चोओत्तमश्रुताः ।
गायकाः स्तुतिशीलाश्च निगदन्तः पृथक् पृथक्॥ ॥२-६५-२॥
Sūtāḥ paramasamskārāḥ maṅgalāścoottamaśrutāḥ । Gāyakāḥ stutiśīlāśca nigadantaḥ pṛthak pṛthak॥ ॥2-65-2॥
Translation
Sutas (charioteers/bards) of excellent training, well-versed in lore, along with singers accustomed to praising, began to recite auspicious blessings and praises individually.

उत्तम संस्कारों से युक्त सूत, मंगल-कामना करने वाले, शास्त्रों के ज्ञाता और स्तुति करने वाले गायकों ने अलग-अलग (अपनी-अपनी शैली में) गुणगान करना आरम्भ किया।
English Commentary
The bards and singers, highly trained (paramasamskārāḥ) and learned, begin their customary morning rituals. They recite auspicious prayers (maṅgalā) for a King who has already met his end. The irony is piercing: they are wishing long life and victory to a dead man. Their loud, individual (pṛthak pṛthak) recitations create a cacophony of joy that sharply clashes with the silent tragedy within the inner chambers.

ये लोग अपने कार्य में निपुण ("परमसम्स्काराः") हैं। वे राजा के लिए "मंगल" (शुभ) कामना कर रहे हैं, जबकि राजा का सबसे बड़ा अमंगल (मृत्यु) हो चुका है। वे "स्तुति" गा रहे हैं, उस राजा के लिए जो अब सुन नहीं सकता। यह स्थिति करुणा को और गहरा करती है। वे "पृथक् पृथक्" (अलग-अलग) गा रहे हैं, जिससे एक कोलाहल सा उत्पन्न हो रहा है, जो अंदर बैठी रानियों के शोक को और अधिक कष्टदायी बना रहा होगा।
