Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
येने स्फीतीकृतो भूयस्तद्गृहं समनादयत् ।
तत्समुत्रस्तसम्भ्रान्तं पर्युत्सुकजनाकुलम् ॥ ॥२-६५-२७॥
yena sphītīkṛto bhūyastadgṛhaṃ samanādayat |
tatsamutrastasambhrāntaṃ paryutsukajanākulam ॥2-65-27॥
Translation
That (sound of wailing) made the palace, which was once made prosperous and festive (by the King), echo loudly. The house became filled with people who were terrified, bewildered, and anxious.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जिस (शोर) ने उस राजभवन को, जो पहले (राजा के द्वारा) उत्सवों से भरा रहता था, अब (करुण) नाद से गुंजारित कर दिया। वह भवन डरे हुए, घबराए हुए और व्याकुल लोगों से भर गया।
English Commentary
The verse contrasts the palace's former glory with its current state. 'Sphitikrito' implies that the palace was previously expanded or filled with joy and prosperity by the King. Now, that same space echoes with wailing. The description of the people as 'samutrasta' (terrified) and 'sambhranta' (confused/bewildered) highlights the chaos. The death of a king in ancient times meant potential instability and danger; thus, the grief is mixed with panic about the impending uncertainty.

यहाँ भूतकाल और वर्तमान का विरोधाभास है। जो घर कभी राजा दशरथ के कारण 'स्फीतीकृतो' (समृद्ध/उत्सवपूर्ण) था, वही अब विलाप से गूंज रहा है। वातावरण में 'समुत्रस्त' (अत्यंत डर), 'सम्भ्रान्त' (घबराहट/भ्रम) और 'पर्युत्सुक' (व्याकुलता) व्याप्त है। राजा की मृत्यु ने न केवल दुःख दिया है, बल्कि एक प्रकार की अराजकता और भय भी उत्पन्न किया है। सेवकों और परिजनों को अपने भविष्य और सुरक्षा की चिंता सताने लगी है।
