Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सर्वतस्तुमुलाक्रन्दं परितापार्तबान्धवम् ।
सद्योनिपतितानन्दं दीनविप्लवदर्शनम् ॥ ॥२-६५-२८॥
sarvatastumulākrandaṃ paritāpārtabāndhavam |
sadyonipatitānandaṃ dīnaviplavadarśanam ॥2-65-28॥
Translation
Everywhere there was tumultuous crying; relatives were tormented by grief. Joy had instantly collapsed, and the scene looked wretched and devastated.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(भवन में) सब ओर तुमुल (भीषण) रोदन हो रहा था, बन्धु-बान्धव संताप से पीड़ित थे। वहां का आनंद तत्काल नष्ट हो गया था और वह स्थान अत्यंत दीन और उजड़ा हुआ दिखाई दे रहा था।
English Commentary
This verse serves as a summary of the atmosphere. 'Tumula' indicates a chaotic, uproar of noise. The most poignant phrase is 'sadyo-nipatita-anandam' (joy that had instantly fallen/collapsed). It underscores the fragility of human happiness—how the anticipated joy of Rama's coronation turned into the despair of Dasharatha's death in a flash. 'Viplava' suggests havoc or devastation; the orderly beauty of the royal court has dissolved into a wretched chaotic scene.

वाल्मीकि भवन की दशा का सजीव चित्रण करते हैं। 'सद्योनिपतितानन्दं' एक अत्यंत प्रभावशाली वाक्यांश है—'सद्यः' (तुरंत) आनंद का गिर जाना या नष्ट हो जाना। एक ही रात में राज्याभिषेक का उत्सव मृत्यु के शोक में बदल गया। 'दीनविप्लवदर्शनम्' का अर्थ है कि सब कुछ अस्त-व्यस्त और दयनीय दिख रहा था। विलासिता की वस्तुएं अब निरर्थक पड़ी थीं और वैभवशाली राजमहल एक श्मशान जैसा प्रतीत हो रहा था।
