हरि चन्दन सम्पृक्तम् उदकम् कान्चनैः घटैः ।
आनिन्युः स्नान शिक्षा आज्ञा यथा कालम् यथा विधि ॥ ॥२-६५-८॥
Hari candana sampṛktam udakam kāñcanaiḥ ghaṭaiḥ । Āninyuḥ snāna śikṣā ājñā yathā kālam yathā vidhi ॥ ॥2-65-8॥
Translation
Those servants, knowledgeable in the bathing rituals, brought water mixed with yellow sandalwood in golden pots, in accordance with the time and proper procedure.

वे स्नान-विधि के जानकार सेवक, समय और विधि के अनुसार, सोने के घड़ों में हरिचंदन (केसर/पीला चंदन) मिश्रित जल ले आए।
English Commentary
The servants execute their duties perfectly, bringing water infused with harichandana (yellow sandalwood) in gold pitchers. They follow the vidhi (procedure) and kālam (timing) strictly. This verse crystallizes the tragedy: the preparations for the King's morning toilette are complete, but he will never wake to use them. The water intended for a refreshing bath will ironically serve no purpose for the living King, foreshadowing the funeral rites that will soon replace this daily ritual.

सेवकों ने राजा के स्नान की तैयारी कर ली है। वे "कांचनैः घटैः" (सोने के घड़ों) में "हरिचंदन" (सुगंधित चंदन) मिला हुआ जल लाए हैं। वे "यथा कालम्" (सही समय पर) आए हैं। विडंबना देखिए—राजा को स्नान तो कराया जाएगा, पर वह 'नित्य स्नान' नहीं, बल्कि 'अंतिम स्नान' होगा। जो जल उनके सुख और ताजगी के लिए लाया गया था, वह अब उनके अंतिम संस्कार की तैयारी का हिस्सा बन जाएगा, यद्यपि लाने वाले सेवकों को अभी यह पता नहीं है।
