विदेह राजस्य सुता तहा सीता तपस्विनी ।
दुह्खस्य अनुचिता दुह्खम् वने पर्युद्विजिष्यति ॥ ॥२-६६-९॥
Videha rājasya sutā tathā sītā tapasvinī । Duḥkhasya anucitā duḥkham vane paryudvijiṣyati ॥ ॥2-66-9॥
Translation
And Sita, the daughter of the King of Videha, who has now become an ascetic, is undeserving of sorrow. She will surely be terrified and distressed by the hardships in the forest.
हिंदी अनुवाद
और विदेहराज की पुत्री सीता, जो अब तपस्विनी बन गई है, वह दुख के योग्य नहीं थी। वह वन में दुखों को देखकर निश्चय ही अत्यंत भयभीत और व्याकुल होगी।
English Commentary
Kausalya’s concern shifts to her daughter-in-law, Sita. She highlights Sita's royal lineage ("Daughter of the King of Videha") to contrast it with her current state as a tapasvini (ascetic). Kausalya asserts that Sita is duhkhasya anuchita—completely unsuited and undeserving of sorrow. Having lived a protected life, the harsh realities of the forest are expected to terrify her. This verse showcases the protective nature of Kausalya, who worries about Sita's psychological state and her inability to cope with the rugged wilderness, viewing her as too delicate for such a fate.
