यथा दृष्टिः शरीरस्य नित्यमेवप्रवर्तते ।
तथा नरेन्द्रो राष्ट्रस्य प्रभवः सत्यधर्मयोः ॥२-६७-३३॥
yathā dṛṣṭiḥ śarīrasya nityamevapravartate |
tathā narendro rāṣṭrasya prabhavaḥ satyadharmayoḥ ॥2-67-33॥
Translation
Just as the eye constantly functions for the guidance of the body, so is the King the source/origin of Truth and Dharma for the nation.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जिस प्रकार शरीर के लिए नेत्र सदा (मार्ग दिखाने में) प्रवृत्त रहते हैं, उसी प्रकार राजा राष्ट्र के लिए सत्य और धर्म का मूल कारण (प्रवर्तक) है।
English Commentary
A profound organic analogy is used here: The King is to the State what the eye is to the body. The eye provides vision, direction, and prevents injury. Similarly, the King provides the moral vision (Satya - Truth, and Dharma - Righteousness) for the people. He is the compass that guides the ship of state. This elevates the King's role from a mere guard to a moral exemplar and guide. Without him, the nation gropes in darkness, unable to distinguish right from wrong.
हिंदी टीका
यह श्लोक राजा को राष्ट्र का 'नेत्र' बताता है। आँखों के बिना शरीर जैसे ठोकर खाता है और गर्त में गिरता है, वैसे ही राजा के बिना राष्ट्र दिशाहीन होता है। यहाँ राजा को केवल प्रशासक नहीं, बल्कि 'सत्य और धर्म का प्रभव' (Source) कहा गया है। इसका अर्थ है कि राजा अपने आचरण और न्याय से समाज में नैतिक मूल्यों को स्थापित करता है। "यथा राजा तथा प्रजा"—राजा ही धर्म का मानक तय करता है। दशरथ के जाने से राष्ट्र 'अंधा' हो गया है, इसलिए नई 'दृष्टि' (नए राजा) की आवश्यकता है।
