उभौ भरत शत्रुघ्नौ क्केकयेषु परम् तपौ ।
पुरे राज गृहे रम्ये मातामह निवेशने ॥ ॥२-६७-७॥
Ubhau bharata śatrughnau kekayeṣu param tapau । Pure rāja gṛhe ramye mātāmaha niveśane ॥ ॥2-67-7॥
Translation
"Both the scorchers of foes, Bharata and Shatrughna, are in the Kekaya kingdom, staying in the delightful royal palace of their maternal grandfather."

दोनों शत्रु-तपते (शत्रुओं को संताप देने वाले) भरत और शत्रुघ्न अपने ननिहाल कैकेय देश में, अपने नाना के रमणीय राजभवन में हैं।
English Commentary
Continuing their assessment, the council notes the location of the remaining princes. Bharata and Shatrughna are far away in Kekaya, at their "Matamaha niveshane" (maternal grandfather's abode). Describing their location as "Ramye" (delightful) contrasts sharply with the gloom in Ayodhya, emphasizing the princes' ignorance of the tragedy. The distance implies a delay in succession, which is the core concern of the council—the "interregnum" period must be minimized.
