तेषाम् तत् वचनम् श्रुत्वा वसिष्ठः प्रत्युवाच ह ।
मित्र अमात्य गणान् सर्वान् ब्राह्मणाम्स् तान् इदं वचः ॥२-६८-१॥
teṣām tat vacanam śrutvā vasiṣṭhaḥ pratyuvāca ha |
mitra amātya gaṇān sarvān brāhmaṇāms tān idaṃ vacaḥ ॥2-68-1॥
Translation
Having heard those words of theirs, Vasistha replied with these words to all the friends, ministers, and Brahmanas.

उनके (मंत्रियों के) उन वचनों को सुनकर, वशिष्ठ जी ने उन सभी मित्रों, मंत्रियों के समूह और ब्राह्मणों से यह बात कही।
English Commentary

यह सर्ग 68 का प्रारंभ है। वशिष्ठ जी ने शांतिपूर्वक सबकी चिंता सुनी। यहाँ श्रोताओं में केवल मंत्री नहीं, बल्कि 'मित्र' और 'ब्राह्मण' भी शामिल हैं, जो दर्शाता है कि यह एक आपातकालीन सभा (Emergency Council) थी। वशिष्ठ जी की प्रतिक्रिया संयमित और निर्णयात्मक है। वे शोक में डूबे बिना राज्य की सुरक्षा के लिए व्यावहारिक कदम उठाते हैं। यह एक स्थितप्रज्ञ ऋषि का लक्षण है जो संकट काल में विचलित नहीं होता।
