सराम्सि च सुपूर्णानि नदीश्च विमलोदकाः ।
निरीक्षमाणास्ते जग्मुर्दूताः कार्यवशाद्द्रुतम् ॥२-६८-१४॥
sarāmsi ca supūrṇāni nadīśca vimalodakāḥ |
nirīkṣamāṇāste jagmurdūtāḥ kāryavaśāddrutam ॥2-68-14॥
Translation
Observing lakes full to the brim and rivers with clear water, the messengers sped on due to the urgency of their mission.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जल से लबालब भरे सरोवरों और निर्मल जल वाली नदियों को देखते हुए वे दूत कार्य की अधिकता (अत्यावश्यकता) के कारण अत्यंत शीघ्रता से चले।
English Commentary
While describing the scenic beauty of the landscape—brimming lakes and crystal-clear rivers—the verse emphasizes the messengers' singular focus. The phrase kāryavaśād drutam (speed due to the weight of the task) is the operative clause. The natural beauty serves as a contrast to their hurried mental state. They register the beauty of the prosperous lands they are crossing but do not stop to enjoy it, driven by the critical command of the Royal Priest.

कवि वाल्मीकि गति के वर्णन के साथ-साथ प्रकृति का चित्रण करना नहीं भूलते। मार्ग में भरे हुए तालाब और नदियाँ बताती हैं कि वह क्षेत्र सुजलाम-सुफलाम था। लेकिन 'कार्यवशाद्द्रुतम्' (कार्य के दबाव के कारण तेज) वाक्यांश महत्वपूर्ण है। सौंदर्य होते हुए भी दूत रुकते नहीं हैं। यह कर्तव्यपरायणता को दर्शाता है। वे दृश्यों को केवल 'निरीक्षमाणा' (निहारते हुए/देखते हुए) निकल जाते हैं, विश्राम नहीं करते।
