अभिकालम् ततः प्राप्यते बोधिभवनाच्च्युताम् ।
पितृपैतामहीम् पुण्याम् तेरुरिक्षुमतीम् नदीम् ॥२-६८-१७॥
abhikālam tataḥ prāpyate bodhibhavanāccyutām |
pitṛpaitāmahīm puṇyām terurikṣumatīm nadīm ॥2-68-17॥
Translation
Then, reaching Abhikala, they crossed the holy Ikshumati river, which flows from the Bodhibhavana region and is associated with the ancestors/forefathers.

तदनन्तर 'अभिकाल' नामक स्थान पर पहुंचकर, उन्होंने बोधिभवन (पर्वत/प्रदेश) से निकली हुई और पिता-पितामहों (पूर्वजों) से सम्बद्ध पवित्र 'इक्षुमती' नदी को पार किया।
English Commentary
The journey continues through Abhikala to the Ikshumati River. The epithet pitṛpaitāmahīm (belonging to fathers and grandfathers) suggests this river held ancestral significance for the Ikshvakus or was simply an ancient, venerable waterway known to their lineage. It originates from Bodhibhavana. This detailed itinerary serves to ground the epic in the physical reality of the Indian subcontinent, marking a path through the cultural heartland of Vedic India.
