तत् शीघ्रम् जवना दूता गच्चन्तु त्वरितैः हयैः ।
आनेतुम् भ्रातरौ वीरौ किम् समीक्षामहे वयम् ॥२-६८-३॥
tat śīghram javanā dūtā gaccantu tvaritaiḥ hayaiḥ |
ānetum bhrātarau vīrau kim samīkṣāmahe vayam ॥2-68-3॥
Translation
Therefore, let swift messengers on fast horses go immediately to bring back those two heroic brothers. What are we waiting for?

इसलिए शीघ्रगामी घोड़ों पर सवार होकर तेज चलने वाले दूत उन दोनों वीर भाइयों को लाने के लिए तुरंत जाएँ। हम किसकी प्रतीक्षा कर रहे हैं?
English Commentary
The sage commands immediate action. The accumulation of words denoting speed (shighram, javana, tvaritai) underscores the critical nature of the timeline. The vacuum in power is dangerous. Vasistha’s rhetorical question, 'What are we waiting for?', cuts through the lamentation of the assembly and initiates the administrative process of succession. It shows his decisive leadership in the absence of a monarch.

वशिष्ठ जी निर्णय लेते हैं। 'शीघ्रम्', 'जवना', 'त्वरितैः'—ये सभी शब्द अत्यंत उतावली और तत्परता (Urgency) को दर्शाते हैं। राज्य एक दिन भी राजा के बिना नहीं रह सकता, इसलिए सबसे तेज घोड़ों का उपयोग करने का आदेश दिया गया है। 'किम् समीक्षामहे वयम्' (हम किसकी राह देख रहे हैं?) एक नेतृत्वकर्ता का प्रश्न है जो सभा को निष्क्रियता से निकालकर कर्म (Action) की ओर प्रेरित करता है।
